This 2-day program is created as an introduction to a social environment. It is designed to give your child a gentle, protected environment and to let them try out their emerging social skills. The teacher guides them in appropriate behavior while still letting them interact and develop their own personalities. Children are introduced to the joys of school with games, stories, and art experiences using a variety of materials. (Potty training is not required. Our school provides diapering services for a nominal fee.)
Our goal for the three-year-old class is to develop an increased confidence in their ability to do things for themselves and others; to develop a great curiosity for the magic and power of written and spoken language; and, to provide a positive experience with progressing skills and creative expressions to create a platform for futher discovery. This 3-day program is designed for children who will not be going on to Kindergarten next year. The students have more activities designed to further challenge their cognitive skills and have tasks which will be developmentally appropriate for their physical and social developmental level.
Our Pre-K program is designed for children who will be old enough to go to Kindergarten the following year. These children will have programs designed specifically for them to discover concepts necessary for reading, writing, math, science, concentration, staying on task, following directions, large and small motor skill development and socially appropriate behavior in a class. This class has a greater depth curriculum.
Potty Training is provided at Grace Preschool.
Our philosophy is that we do understand that each child develops at different times. We support you in this and are happy to provide diapering service for those little ones whom are not quite ready yet. The cost is an additional $25 a month*, until the time your child is able to stay dry. If you would like, our trained staff will work with you and your child to help accomplish this goal. Please speak to your teacher for details.
All classes offer an early 8:30am drop off option. Parents are able to sign their children in and they will play out in the play yard supervised until the bell rings for the start of school. It also provides a time for parents to get to know one another. **Note – If raining, they will be able to go directly to their classrooms.
For a small fee, we offer what we call “Lunch Bunch”. It is an optional extended hours lunch program from 11:45am – 1:30pm. Click here to learn more.
Each year we take the children on various age appropriate field trips. In the past we have gone to a pumpkin patch, bird watching on campus, walked to the Fire Station (for the 2′s the Fire Station came onsite for the visit), YSI at Vasona. All parents are required to sign permission slips and are welcome to attend each function. NOTE: There is no school the days we are off site.
We celebrate all the Christian holidays and the children learn about their significance. We even have a birthday party for Jesus! On a more regular basis, once per week the children attend “Chapel”, a small group environment with Senior Pastor Jennifer Murdock or our Student Pastor Children, Youth, & Young Adult Ministries. They teach the children a biblical story, a song or talk about one of the holidays approaching. At snack time, the child learn new meal prayers and share their own with their class.
We offer a summer school program in the month of July. It runs week to week and when you sign up, your child can attend either 2 or 4 days per week.
Examples of weekly themes are:
We hope you will be able to join us next summer!
